Information Processing

From the discussions of the topic about the information processing I learned how the information was processed in our brain. It first enters into the sensory registers were information was received and was being stored for a very short period of time for processing and forwarding to the next stage of process the Short-term Memory this is the one who hold the limited amount of information and is responsible in organizing it for storage or discarding and connecting it to other informations stored in the Long-term Memory it is the last stage of processing information where informations being forwarded is stored for a long period of time and is free to be rehearsed, retrieved and connecting this to other information for future use.
I also learned the three theories of learning and how to apply this for classroom teaching the first theory is the cognitive learning theory which focuses more on the memory of the learners and the other two theories the Information processing theory and the commulative learning theory they are more on the application for proper teaching and imparting knowledge to the learners.

Behavioral Theories of Learning

On this lesson I learned the different types of learning strategies for students and the elements that will affect their learning like the environment, their performances and the reinforcements that was applied to students for better learning. Conditioning students to learn is not that easy because students have different ways of learning styles, behaviors, attitudes and personality that the teacher must adjust.

Also maintaining a good environment for learning is important because this will affect the learning conditions of the students and their performance in learning their lessons. Reinforcement is important especially in motivating and making your students focus on learning their lessons and studying and gaining good performance in school. Praising learners is also one way of giving students confidence and motivates them to learn and to participate in school. The thing that must be avoided is discriminating your students because this may affect their learning conditions and may cause them to be disappointed by themselves and avoid participating in any activities but some students also take discrimination on positive part and use it as a challenge to change their behavior in learning.

Learning

The first reporter discuss about learning and I learn that learning is defined as modification of behavior through experience, I also learn the nature of learning and its approaches the experimental which is to find out the nature of learning process and the clinical is to find out the setting and satisfaction of learning situation. The reporter also discuss the theories of learning which is the Behaviorist Theory and it deals with things that can only observed and the organismic and Gestalt and field theories this theory states that a man can learn by his own response we also tackle about Kolb’s research and its cycle of learning, the learning action that without action we can’t learn and without learning there will be no action, the information processing theory and the theories under it.

Learning is a lifetime process, because every day in our life we learn different things from our experiences, the only constant thing in this world is change and we need to cope with those changes and through it we learn.

What is Teaching?

During the 2nd week I learn what is teaching and this serves as a guide and provides direction in every classroom work conducted by the teacher. We also learn the important elements of teaching the teachers, the learners, the instruction method and the curriculum. Teacher is an important element because they are the one who manage the class, they motivate the student, the serve as the leader, they are our model, our second parent, they are making us aware of the society and they serves as our guidance counselor in all our problems. Learner is also an important element because without them there will be no learners and teachers is useless, the instruction method is the order and delivery of knowledge to the learners it is important to know the teaching methodology and the curriculum is the wholeness of the study and its related activities.

Qualities of a Good and Effective Teacher

During the first week of our discussion in our lessons we tackle about the qualities that makes a good and effective  teacher, I learn that there are two qualities that a teacher must possess it is the Personal and the Professional Qualities.

The Personal Qualities this is all about the personal being of a teacher how he handles his self like the personal appearance, the pleasing voice, how to show kindness to the students, and being helpful to the students needs specially in learning the lessons.

The Professional Qualities this is being a professional teacher, as a teacher you must have knowledge on your subject because if you know everything about what you are teaching it is not difficult for you to share your knowledge to your students, the other professional qualities are understand your students and their ways of learning.

We also watch a video presentations about a teacher, this videos is about the teacher and their role in the life of the students and their capacity to change students life through the simple things that they do. I also learned in the video that it is not just us students who learn from our teachers but they also learn from us.

This made me realize that whenever we are and whatever we achieve in our life we must always look back to those people who give us lots of learning’s and thank them for everything.
